About the Painting:
This painting was actually inspired by a piece of music called “Orange Dawn.” The song is written by Ian Clark for flute & piano. The flute part uses alternate fingerings on some of the notes to create a more airy and earthy quality to the sound. I probably listened (and played) the piece close to a hundred times while creating this painting. The expressive sounds, chords, and tone colors are so magical that they truly inspired the colors and composition of this painting.

Thick impasto brush strokes are placed on the cavas side by side in the style of Open Impressionism to create a mosaic effect.
